(26 Recipes Found - Phase 1 in Green)3 Bean Salad
Barley, Asparagus and Mushroom Salad HI all,
I just made this tonight and it was yummy and totally legal for Phase 2. It's from Eating Well magazine, a ‘zine I heartily recommend for us SBDers. It is very compatible with our way of eating, more so than Cooking Light.
Barley is not my favorite so I am always looking for good ways to cook it since it is so good for us. This was a hit!! Enjoy. PS _ the board wouldn't let me post the name of the mushrooms - said it was objectionable!!
Blackened Chicken Salad The recipe (From Cooking Light Magazine, adjusted) has several steps to it, but it's well worth the effort. A very pretty salad, it makes a great presentation if you're having guests.
Broccoli Cauliflower Salad Use as a side dish for meat or fish, or as a snack with cheddar cheese.
Broccoli/Cauliflower Salad I found this wonderful recipe elsewhere on the recipe board and wanted to share! Today, I enjoyed it for lunch along with some leftover taco meat and low fat cheese for my protein source. I had been in a salad rut, and this was just the thing to get me out of my routine!
Next time I make this, I am going to substitute Ranch dressing for the mayo and add enough water to just thin it a touch. My hubby’s opinion of the salad was “it’s good, but I’d just as soon dip fresh veggies in Ranch.”
Caroline's Basil Boats
Cauliflower Salad Found this recipe today, I will use a assorted lettuce leaves, light mayo and turkey bacon when I make this one
Cobb Salad Adapted from Family Circle, May 2008
*Blue cheese is allowed but be careful since there is no low-fat version, so you could cut the blue cheese down even more.*
Creamy Cole Slaw From the Splenda website
Cucumber, Yellow/Red Pepper, Onion and Mint Raita Adapted from Mamta's Kitchen Recipes, www.mamtaskitchen.com - check the site out for lots of delicious Indian food that is easily adapted to SBD!
Cucumbers & Tomatoes in Vinegar Hey everyone!
My partner came up with this really great recipe for cucumbers and tomatoes in vinegar.
Cucumbers and Tomatoes in Vinegar
Field Salad with Snow Peas, Grapes, and Feta I adapted this for SBD Phase 2 from Cookinglight.com. I served it on a large platter. It makes a beautiful presentation, and is really good.
Garbanzo Cucumber Salad Enjoy! I added a chopped green pepper, and a can yellow wax beans, (drained) I sometimes don’t have fresh lemon so I have made it without the lemon peel.
Jicama Slaw with Lemon Vinaigrette This makes a huge salad. I cut the recipe in half for the two of us.
In comparision to other vegetables, both root and non-root vegetables I believe that jicama would fit into the list of foods to enjoy. I used the following web site to compare nutritional information: http://www.weightlossforgood.co.uk/nutrition
Mediterranean Salad This makes a great side dish. Also tastes great added to wrap sandwiches.
Oriental Chicken Salad Bon appetit!!
Quick & Easy 3-Bean Salad This makes a nice salad with little work and will keep for days in the refrig.
Roasted Cauliflower and Rice Salad with Dijon Vinaigrette This is from Nava Atlas\'s newsletter ... here is her comment:
A note from Nava: At the same time as the cauliflower for this salad, I roasted a pan of mixed veggies: Broccoli, pumpkin, and brussels sprouts. You can add a bit of tofu, tempeh, or seitan to that mix as well. Yum!
Romano Bean Salad These beans are also called Italian flat beans or runner beans...this snap bean variety looks like a wide, flat green bean. You can easily substitute an equal amount of regular green beans. I did use runner beans...had to ask which they were at farmers market!
Made this recipe for Sunday evening dinner for Dad who joined me and it was just delicious...from this months Cooking Light Magazine. We had it with marinated pork tenderloin and a veggie au gratin (all farmers mkt stuff). He even loved it...and he is a die hard southern cook who cooks his green beans to death with ham....lol!
Som Tam (Thai green papaya salad) Thailand's favorite barbecue accompaniment ... This is excellent as a backyard barbecue dinner with the roasted chicken.
Please note that all my measurements are very approximate - we never measure, just dump things in and taste!
Strawberry Fall Salad
Warm Spinach Salad .* Regular fresh spinach may be used in place of baby spinach but will result in a less delicate salad. THE ORIGINAL Recipe CALLED for CROUTONS. BUT I OMITTED THEM! Or make your own Whole Wheat Croutons!
’Yum Neura Yang’ (Grilled beef salad) Please note that all my measurements are very approximate - we never measure, just dump things in and taste!
Another recipe for these barbecue days ....
Note: A 'yum' is a sour-peppery salad.
